The Dying Days
Calling themselves the “Awakened” psychics of Valamar flock to the Cerulean College, a massive domed building in Capitol City. At this school, these students of the mind learn to use (and abuse) their supernatural abilities. The College was created to supply the nation with powerful guardians who, should the Mind Flayers return, will be able to beat them at their own game.
With this goal in mind, the very best of the College’s graduates can become one of the One-Hundred Guardians, also known as the Vaultkeepers. These powerful individuals are tasked with standing vigil over the Vault – the gargantuan metal prison said to contain the secrets of the Illithids. After two thousand years, the Guardians are not quite as powerful as they once were, and the position is seen more as a reward than a solemn duty.
Some Valamaran historians have tried to link these psionic powers to the experiments of the Mind Flayers (because of their similar abilities) but there is little historic evidence of this.
